My daughter is very shy so I started sending her to Speech and Drama. After one term with Mary even her school teacher has commented on the change in her. She participates more in class and is volunteering more information in school. This is all thank to Mary’s approach to each student’s unique personality.
Mary helped me build my confidence. I was shy and never thought of myself as someone who could really get involved and put myself out there. She taught me to always strive to be a better version of myself. Through her unique style she guided me to push nerves aside and showed me that I was capable of so many things. I will be always be thankful for her patience and kindness.
One of the best parts of attending Mary’s Public Speaking and Communications course was the fact it was tailored to my needs and all on weekly Zoom calls. While developing my own skill set, I was responsible for identifying problems and making positive change in my own career. There was no better feeling than receiving my life coach qualification and seeing how much of a positive impact I now have on clients helping them grow and develop also.Mary taught me communication skills., interview skills, public speaking and about taking responsibility. These have all been transferable to my life coaching.
I can’t thank Mary and her team enough for how much they cared about each and every one of their students. They work so hard to make sure they benefit to the fullest. She should be proud of what she does. I would encourage any parents thinking of joining speech and drama to do so. I can honestly say it was one of the best decisions I made and I am so happy that my 3 children have benefited down through the years.
ABOUT OUR DIRECTOR

Mary Whelan Fox School of Elocution, Speech and Drama opened in April 2006 due to a fast-growing demand from adults and parents for quality teaching and coaching in voice and elocution.
Active participation is what we strive for in our speech and drama classes and coaching sessions. From the moment they arrive, students of all ages are taught to explore, think, sense and experience through the medium of creative drama. Through our classes and coaching, we hope to create an environment where the individual child or adult grows and evolves through participation, working together as a team, listening, children learn by “doing,” being involved.

Launch of Poetry Book 2021
I endeavored to engage with my students in both the reading and writing of poetry. I have found that children are very open to poetry and naturally like it. They don’t require encouragement to read, consider and reflect on poems. I see poetry as an effective vehicle for teaching students to develop skills in oral […]

HALLOWEEN is almost upon us, and you’d be forgiven for forgetting about it this year. At Speech and Drama Athlone we brought our party and fun online.
